Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)— EMDR is an evidenced based model that offers an alternative to talk therapy for healing anxiety and trauma. It is an approved technique to address issues of anxiety, PTSD, and other psychological problems. EMDR uses a structured protocol to target specific memories which are stored in the brain. Using bilateral stimulation while targeting the memory, allows the mind to change negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Thus, giving the memory new meaning and rewiring the memory networks in the brain. In EMDR, clients learn practical coping skills to manage their symptoms while targeting the memory (core issue) located in the brain.
